On board diary

Barcelona, June 28th 2009 – The entire world is still sad by the sudden death of the King of Pop, but today is a historic day, today I will break the shell to make myself known to the rest of the world. I have a look at my name tag and find out they have nicknamed me Hot BuZz (mag). My aim is to offer an honest look at current issues; a cocktail of news, reviews, curiosities and other cultural rarities, but it seems I would need to hurry up, people say the world will end in 2012. I bet it is written in my destiny that I will have to fight against a plague of living deads.

For a period of time I go out with my speeder to fulfill several missions: to interview some people from the entertainment industry such as actress Elena Anaya, actors like José Coronado, Sergi López and Fernando Guillén Cuervo, and film directors such as Cherien Dabis or Vicente Aranda, to cover different cultural events (hotbuzzmag.es) like Surface Festival and rub shoulders with A-list artists like Bon Jovi, U2, Aerosmith and rock heroes such as Metallica, Motörhead, Rage Against the Machine or Jane’s Addiction (Rock in Río); to contact music promoters, book publishers, video games’ corporations and film companies, and invite some of the most talented musicians from the EU and USA’s underground music scene to join my cause like the guys from The Pink Elephants, The Black Rose Road, Liquid Fuse, Exit State or Peachy Joke.

Leicester/Barcelona April 8th 2011 – Months later my troop becomes bigger and we conquer British audiences (hotbuzzmag.uk), we put ourselves at risk to secretly invade the video games’ industry and submerge ourselves into the deepest seas of the greatest literary works. We also take the chance to dance with Twilight vampires and werewolves on “Breaking Dawn” red-blooded carpet, travel to “Lost” “island” wishing we can touch with our fingertips Jack Shephard’s and the other surviving passengers of the 228 Oceanic Airlines flight personal belongings, which are on display just cms away from us at the exhibition room, and disguise ourselves as bridal walking deads to take part in “REC 3: Genesis” première and its zombie walk.

Leicester/Barcelona April 5th 2012 – Our future looks amazingly bright. It seems humanity does not have one foot in the pine box yet, even though it is obvious it is falling apart. We are ready for the apocalypse, meanwhile we dream of changing the world, rewrite the story of the human race and unveil the tales of our adventures, our journeys through the universe of the cultural matters and make your day to win back the magic it deserves and you always have desired.

There is just one thing left to say:

Bon Voyage!!

Peter Jackson’s film about the WM3 to premiere at Sundance

The documentary produced by Peter Jackson based on the case of the West Memphis Three is set to premiere out of competition at the Sundace Film Festival this Saturday.

“West of Memphis” (WingNut Films), which goes under the direction of American Filmmaker Amy Berg, reopens the investigation of the case of the US teens- known as the West Memphis Three-  convicted of the satanic ritual killings of three eight-year-old boys (Stevie Branch, Michael Moore, and Christopher Byers) in Arkansas in 1994.

The film, following the steps of the three previous HBO documentaries by Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky (“Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills”, “Paradise Lost 2: Revelations” and “Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory”), raises questions about the evidence as it is widely believed that the trio (Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley Jr.) has been wrongly convicted -in fact some supporters include Johnny Depp and Eddie Vedder- and they were set free on August 19, 2011 after spending 18 years in jail.

Jackson, who scooped another award winning best animated feature film for “The Adventures of Tintin” (Paramount Pictures and Columbia Pictures, 2011) at Monday’s Golden Globes ceremony, and his partner, Fran Walsh, produced the film alongside Echols and his wife, Lorri Davis.

The first screening will be held at Utah's Sundance Festival on Saturday afternoon.

For more information about the movies competing in the festival click here.

If you want to know more about the case or the documentaries you can visit the WM3 official website.

On one way protagonist we see protagonist Victor checking to make sure his worse-for-wear but beloved dog Sparky is in his rightful place under the bed, animator Jens Gulliksen bringing Victor to life on the Pet Cemetery set, assistant art director, Barry Jones, set dressing the Classroom set, and Matias Liebrecht animating the little boy on the Attic set.

“Frankenweenie” is a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments.

The movie, which is being filmed in black and white and will later be rendered in 3D, will hit theaters on October 2012.
